Casa Gioiosa
The headquarters of the park authority is located within the main section of the former penal colony of Tramariglio, and specifically in the heart of the actual prison. Granted under concession to the Italian Ministry of Justice during the fascist years for the purposes of creating a temporary agricultural penal colony, Tramariglio was intended to become an inhabited settlement serving the area that was to be reclaimed.
Today, in what were the hallways and cells of the old prison, there are now a series of interactive museum routes, alongside a botanical garden that is exceptionally interesting in terms of its biology and natural history.
